As a Public Services Associate, Weltonette Taylor leads Bethel University’s Strategy, Policy, and Community Coalitions division. Her team’s work is focused on improving college student outcomes and disrupting educational inequities to ensure all students are afforded an opportunity to be successful. Her position allows her to work closely with the Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Services departments to make sure that all students have what they need to successfully complete college.
Previously, Weltonette served as a Retirement Specialist with GLP & Associates in Michigan where she became well-rehearsed in retirement financial planning. Weltonette also worked eleven years with individuals and business taxes preparation, which aids in her current knowledge of today’s individual financial situations. In her current position as a Tax Expert with Intuit Turbo Tax working alongside Bethel University staff as a Public Services Associate, Weltonette helps to build community support for quality education where her focus is on supporting students’ and families’ efforts to improve academic and social outcomes.
Weltonette holds a BA in Operations Management from Remington College, Memphis Campus, and MBA in Operation Management from American InterContinental University in Chicago and is currently pursuing her Ed.D in Education Leadership and Organizational Management from Trident University (online). Her dissertation on the policy implications surrounding teacher evaluation and effectiveness. She is a sought-after speaker on policy issues and frequently presents to educational leaders and stakeholders locally to drive important policy changes related to educational equity.
Weltonette serves on several local boards including Education Leaders of Color for the Webb High School Alumni Club, Stand for Children National Board, Council Member for the Northwest Tennessee Community Policy Board, and Memphis Seeding Success Strive Network.
