Tamika attended Central Michigan University where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Immediately after college, she worked in the financial services industry at Northern Trust for almost 10 years. During this time, she was able to help many families with college-bound children on their investments, trust administration, and family wealth preservation.
Having a desire to use her financial knowledge to help students and families navigate the collegiate environment, Tamika began working as a college counselor and Director of College Counseling within the Noble Network of Charter Schools in Chicago, Illinois. While at Noble, Tamika created a student-centered college counseling philosophy for hundreds of students which yielded 98 – 100% yearly college acceptance, $13+ million in merit scholarships for 3 consecutive years, and a 7% increase in college persistence in one year.
Currently, Tamika works for a national non-profit organization devoted to helping students achieve college success while also serving as a national speaker and Client Service Manager at My College Planning Team. She is a regular contributor to Collegiate Parent Magazine and has been published in several media outlets including Go Banking Rates and College Covered.
When Tamika is not working or spending time with her husband and 2 children, she enjoys spending time with her extended family and friends, traveling, shopping, dancing, and trying new foods.
